FIFA Extraordinary Congress Opener

While working for FS Parker in Zürich, Switzerland, I had the honour of solely designing, pitching, editing (sound + video) and animating the FIFA Extraordinary Congress Opener. Shown in front hundreds of FIFA delegates from across the globe, the opener set the stage for the organization to vote in a new president which would lead to reforms and a huge shift from the embattled to the new. Not only was the event a massive milestone for FIFA, the opener was the introduction into the new phase, so the stakes were * very * high. The FIFA brand C.I. was strictly enforced: the bands of colour signified FIFA’s core values; the video was edited to reflect FIFA’s 3 pillars: The Development of the Game, Touch The World Through Competition, and Build a Better Future. The sliding panels were animated to represent the forward movement into the future. You can watch the event on YouTube and see the opener in action here (link).

James Bond Spectre European Premier Gala Screens

Again, while working at FS Parker in Zürich, Switzerland, I lead a small team building animated screens that were shown at the European Gala Premier of James Bond’s Spectre. 15 countries from around mainland Europe competed to host the premier of the latest James Bond film in their country. Lucky for us, Zürich, Switzerland won the competition and we won the contract to contribute to the film premier and VIP afterparty held at the famous Hallenstadion. The project was shrouded in complete secrecy and we had no idea what Sony/MGM had planned for the iconic James Bond intro that would influence the production. We were told that the opening was not even complete when we were asked to start pitching the concepts, mood boards and style frames. All we understood was that there would be two elements that we could play off of — broken glass and fire — based on the movie poster that was teased months before. To our surprise (and luck) everything we created was spot-on for the gala after party where 7 massive screen projected our work over the crowds celebrating. Here is a quick montage of the work and the event.

Shadows

Every once in a while one gets a splash of unbridled inspiration. Cross that with a "we-can-do-anything" type of attitude, and what emerges is something like this experiment. I made a low-tech motion graphic piece that utilizes the sun to make typography move. I call it "eco-motion".

Tools: Nikon D70, The Sans Bold, and 9 hours on a sunny day.

Sound: Radiohead, Kid A.
